Nice to meet you.
ABOUT ME
People frequently come in to therapy feeling confused about their own behaviors and emotions. Why am I staying in this relationship? Why do I keep having the same conflicts at work? Why do I feel so anxious when everything is fine?
As a relational psychodynamic therapist, I will work with you to discover the ways in which past relationships and experiences have shaped you and may be contributing to current “stuck points.” My diverse training allows me to tailor therapy to your specific needs. My toolbox includes a versatile range of approaches (detailed below) which empowers me to customize our sessions, ensuring they align with your personal journey and goals. I value the importance of ongoing training, therapy, and supervision to provide my clients with the best possible care.
My methods
EXPERIENCE
Relational Psychodynamic
Relational therapy recognizes that we come to understand ourselves and the world through relationships. Failing to meet our core needs, including our need to feel loved, understood, and connected results in psychological distress in ways that are sometimes difficult to identify. Relational therapy focuses on improving the quality of our relationships with self and others.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based psychotherapy treatment that alleviates the distress associated with traumatic or painful memories. When left "undigested" these past experiences do not stay in the past but very much affect our present.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
In cognitive behavioral therapy, the focus is on identifying problematic or unhelpful patterns in thinking and behaving, and making changes at the thought and behavior level. This structural type of therapy is directive and goal-oriented.
Internal Family Systems
IFS is an evidence-based therapy which posits that every person has multiple “parts” which serve important purposes but are often in conflict with each other. IFS therapy helps individuals find more inner harmony and healing for parts that are wounded.
